After hearing about the success of PORCH in Chapel Hill (People Offering Relief for Chapel Hill-Carrboro Homes), Durham community members decided to join forces and start PORCH-Durham to provide supplemental food to children and families facing hunger in Durham County.

Hi I'm Laura Meyers executive director Porch Durham Wear a fit security organization that provides food to thousands of Children and their families Throughout the year since this health crisis has hit we've had to shift our model a bit and we are purchasing grocery gift cards directly for our partners and their families In the month of March we spent about $14,000 in grocery gift cards and have between 253 100 families on our wait list We're so grateful for all the support we have received so far and we'll need more monetary donations to continue our work for the next several months

Hey my name is Joey Powell I'm the executive director of the Be Fine Foundation and I want to let you know how Cove in 19 is affecting our organization We provide financial assistance and emotional support to families that have a child facing a medical crisis at either UNC Duke or wait minute Children's hospitals And right now the need is soaring for funds for families to be able to afford groceries but also to be able to afford to travel back and forth to the hospital We've been really busy working with social workers to get grocery cards and gas cards to families who need these resource is in order to get their child the treatment that they need And if we can lift the immediate burns that this need for food and gas is causing we can offer a little bit of a reprieve for the parents that we serve in the midst of a child's medical prices  So we hope that you'll consider helping today
