62-year-old motorcyclist killed, driver charged with DWI in Johnston County crash

PRINCETON, N.C. — Authorities shut down both directions of U.S. Highway 70 near Princeton Sunday afternoon due to a fatal wreck involving a motorcycle.

Authorities said the motorcyclist, identified as Gary Martin Henry, 62, from New Bern, was returning from a ride through West Virginia when the driver of an SUV failed to yield and pulled out in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash.

Henry was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was charged with death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired while a passenger in the vehicle was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a fatality.
