Winter is over -- at least for the next four days, said meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Temperatures will be unusually warm the entire work week -- with highs in the 70s through Thursday and, possibly, Friday.

"With highs in the 70s several days this week, we have a chance to tie or break a record high," said Gardner. "Our best chance is Thursday, when the forecast high is 75 degrees and the record is 76."

Unusually warm weather could break records this week

Starting Monday afternoon and lasting through the work week, temperatures are expected to climb into the 60s, even reaching the mid-70s.

The temperature change was first noticeable on Monday, which started out fairly cool but was toasty by lunchtime.

Tuesday will be even warmer than Monday, with a high in the mid 70s, and Wednesday will see a high in the low 70s.

Winter takes a break

Gardner said Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, with a possible high of 75 degrees.

A chance of rain won't come until Friday, with will be mostly cloudy but still warm, with highs in the mid 60s to lower 70s.

Although the weekend looks cooler, with highs in the upper 40s, Gardner said we may have another big warm-up for the second week of February, making for an unusually mild month.
