6 people hurt after pickup collides head-on with ambulance in Charlotte

Six people are a hurt after an ambulance was hit head-on by a pick-up truck on Interstate 227, or Independence Boulevard, in Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Six people were hurt after an ambulance was hit head-on by a pickup on Interstate 277 at Independence Boulevard in Charlotte.

Four people inside the pickup were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the crash happened in uptown Charlotte at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday when an ambulance was driving in the inbound lanes.

The employees inside the ambulance are expected to recover from their injuries, and officials said they were not life-threatening. No patients were in the ambulance Monday morning.
