The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the head-on crash that happened around 9:30 p.m south of Benson.

Troopers said Kim Blackmon, the driver of the red Jeep, will be charged with driving while impaired after the SUV pulled out of a driveway into the path of a white pickup that was pulling a boat.

The driver of the pickup truck was seriously injured, and his truck and boat were destroyed. Police said two other cars struck the boat but that the passengers are okay.
