Five Below is great for teens, pre-teens

This month’s Smart Shopper video highlights a new store here in the Triangle – Five Below. The Cary location opened in early October and offers extreme-value merchandise to teens and pre-teens. The key with Five Below is that all the items in the store are priced between $1 and $5. Everything is $5 or less! That’s pretty enticing if you only have a $10 allowance.

Five Below carries a wide variety of products including sporting goods, games, jewelry, books, DVDs, iPhone accessories, snacks, candy, bath and body, collectibles, school supplies, stationary, gag items and seasonal products. The merchandise changes regularly. and they carry a number of brand name items like Hello Kitty and Disney.

Founded by David Schlessinger, creator and founder of Encore Books and Zany Brainy, and Tom Vellios, former CEO of Zany Brainy, the first Five Below store opened in Wayne, Pennsylvania in 2002. The privately held company now has 100 stores in 13 states, including four right here in the Triangle.

You can find Five Below stores in Durham at New Hope Commons, Raleigh at Poyner Place, Apex at Beaver Creek Crossing and Cary at Crossroads Plaza.

All sales are final. If there is a problem or imperfection, they will replace it if returned within 14 days with a receipt. The stores accept cash, VISA and MasterCard – no American Express or personal checks.
