70% off restaurant.com gift certificates

I received a tweet from restaurant.com about their newest code for 70% off certificates - use code STEAK at checkout. Instead of paying the usual $12.50 for a $25 gift certificate, you only pay $3. Make sure you read the fine print (most certificates require a minimum purchase, can only be used for dinner or cannot be used on weekends).

I also recommend calling the restaurant before buying the certificate to make sure they are still participating. I heard recently from a Smart Shopper reader about a restaurant.com certificate she purchased for Amedeo's in N. Raleigh. When she went to use the certificate, they told her they weren't accepting them anymore because of fraud! How frustrating. The store is supposed to call in the certificate to verify that is has not yet been used.  I have not heard of this happening at other restaurants and I have been using these certificates for years and years. Thankfully, restaurant.com gave her a full credit to choose another gift certificate at any other restaurant.com restaurant.
