53-year old behavioral health employee charged with raping disabled 19-year old client

The suspect was an employee at the behavioral health center where the victim was a client.

— A 53-year old Burlington man was charged with the second degree rape of a 19-year old disabled woman. Timothy Lynn Alford was an employee at a behavioral health center in Chapel Hill, where the victim was a client.

Alford was also charged with misdemeanor sexual battery.

The woman was taken to UNC Hospital to have a sexual assault kit completed, which was placed into evidence at the Alamance County Sheriff's Office and sent off for testing.

Investigators conducted multiple interviews and follow ups with Alford's colleagues. They also collected the suspect's DNA after gaining a search warrant for his private residence.

Alford was arrested Monday. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
