RALEIGH, N.C. — Football, Valentine's Day and a lot more are coming up this month.

Feb. 1-5

Feb. 1 and 4: The Disney-Quest Film Series: The Lion King - Enjoy a screening of the classic Disney film at Carolina Theatre of Durham. Tickets are $8 plus taxes and fees.
Feb. 2: Groundhog Day activities - The NC Museum of Natural Sciences said that despite Sir Walter Wally's retirement, there will still be displays and activities at the museum on Thursday form 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free to attend.
Jan. 31-Feb. 5: Cats - CATS, the record-breaking musical spectacular by Andrew Lloyd Webber that has captivated audiences in over 30 countries and 15 languages, is now on tour across North America. See it at DPAC through Feb. 5.
Feb. 3: CAM Raleigh First Fridays - On the first Friday of the month, head to CAM Raleigh for this free show from Kevin Golden Jazz Ensemble featuring Kevin Golden, Mac McLoughlin, Noah Powell, Mike Maloney, and Dwayne Jordan.
Feb. 3: John Waters: The End of The World - “False Negative” sure has changed and so has John Waters’ spoken word show, now entitled “End of the World.” This all-new, fast-moving, comic monologue about today’s despair and diseases, desires and desperation breaks through with an insane optimism that welcomes all audiences into a new dawn of depravity. See it on Feb. 3 at Carolina Theatre of Durham.
Feb. 3-5: DC Curry at Goodnights - Don "DC" Curry is a certified comedy heavyweight. A master of comedic timing and delivery, Curry continues to be versatile and relevant since winning two “Comedian Of The Year" awards in 1995. See him on stage at Goodnights Feb. 3-5.
Feb. 3-5: Tony Rock at Raleigh Improv - Tony has been performing for years and he has gained a reputation as a young star in the making. The Hollywood Reporter recently picked him as one of the hot young talents to come out of New York. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv from Feb. 3-5.
Feb. 4: Rosa Park and Friends - Presented by Bright Star Theatre, this production takes the audience on an amazing journey through time with Rosa Parks where some of the most remarkable figures in history come to life. See it on stage at the Alston-Massenburg Center in Wake Forest. Admission is free. The show is at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4.
Feb. 4: Krispy Kreme Challenge - 2,400 calories, 12 doughnuts, five miles, one hour. What started as a challenge among 10 friends has transformed into a nationally publicized charity race, and the number one tradition to complete before graduating from North Carolina State University (NCSU). All proceeds from the Krispy Kreme Challenge are donated to the N.C. Children's Hospital so that its staff can continue to provide the best care and facilities for their patients. The challenge is Saturday morning at the NC State Belltower. Participants run to the nearby Krispy Kreme, eat a dozen donuts and run back.
Feb. 4: NC MLK Black History Month Parade - The parade will line up at W. G. Pearson Elementary School (3501 Fayetteville Street), proceed 1.2 mile up Fayetteville Street (past the Block Party) and end at NCCU (corner of Lawson and Fayetteville Streets). Marching bands, step/dance teams, sororities/fraternities, antique cars, mascots, and more! Congresswoman Valerie Foushee will be the Grand Marshal.
Feb. 4: NCSSM American Indian Powwow - The event will begin with the Grand Entry of dancers dressed in traditional and modern dance regalia. The Head Male Dancer will be Cameron Richardson, representing the Haliwa-Saponi, and Head Lady Dancer will be Symone McBride, representing the Waccamaw-Siouan Tribe. Altogether approximately 150 dancers and six drums will participate. The event is Feb. 4 from noon to 5 p.m. at the NC School of Science and Mathematics.
Feb. 4: ICCA South Quarterfinal - The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella is the real life Pitch Perfect. Join in for an unforgettable, family-friendly evening of the best local a cappella competition battling head to head for a chance to advance to the next round of competition. The show is Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at Carolina Theatre of Durham.
Feb. 4-5: FairyTale Tea - Fairy dust and sparkling crowns, enchanted wands and princess gowns at Marbles Kids Museum this weekend. Dress in your storybook best and enjoy magical activities, majestic treats, and enchanting encounters with fanciful characters for this event. Tickets are $25 per person.
Feb 6: Flash Chorus: Sing Billy Joel and Phoenix - Learn to sing two pop songs with a live band! No singing experience necessary, no auditions. You don't even have to know the songs! You'll be learning Billy Joel's "Anthony's Song" and Phoenix's "1901." The show is at Motorco on Feb. 6. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Jan. 26-Feb. 12: Mlima's Tale - There’s a ghost on the Ivory Highway. It follows the tusk of an elephant across thousands of miles, over land and sea, and feels each hand it touches along the way. Who is culpable in this underground global market? Can we learn from Mlima’s Tale? And will we care? Burning Coal Theatre presents this show through Feb. 12.
Jan. 27-Feb. 12: Blood Wedding - Blood Wedding is a gripping Spanish tragedy from Federico García Lorca. Inspired by a true story and first performed in 1933, this is a classic play that deserves our attention. The show runs at Raleigh Little Theatre through Feb. 12.

Feb. 6-12

Feb. 7-12: Dreamgirls - North Carolina Theatre presents this show through Feb. 12 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Dreamgirls is about a time in American musical history when rhythm and blues blended with other styles of popular music to create a new American sound. Spanning from gospel, R&B, and smooth pop to the arrival of disco, this musical mirrors the glamorous and electrifying rise of groups like The Supremes, The Marvelettes, The Temptations and The Shirelles. Through exploring themes of ambition, hope and betrayal, Dreamgirls reveals the behind-the-scenes reality of the competitive entertainment industry, and how women not only survived but redefined the phenomenal “dream.”
Feb. 7: Reviving the Supper Club Chef Series with Vidrio’s Saif Rahman - The Reviving the Supper Club Chef Series’ virtual event featuring chef Saif Rahman of Vidrio in Raleigh will raise money for Ripe For Revival, a Rocky Mount nonprofit with a fleet of pay-what-you-can mobile grocery stores serving food deserts in central and eastern North Carolina. During the virtual event, Rahman will show guests how to cook a Pan-Seared Chicken with Curried Sweet potatoes, Carolina Gold Rice and Bengali Tomato Salad. Guests also will learn how to make — and enjoy — a special cocktail from Vidrio.
Feb. 8: Dancing with the Stars: Live! 2023 Tour - America’s favorite dance show is back on tour. See the ballroom brought to life in this brand-new production featuring your favorite Dancing with the Stars pros, plus special guest stars at DPAC on Feb. 8.
Feb. 9-11: Rachel Feinstein - Rachel Feinstein is a nationally touring comedian and actress. "Huffington Post" called her “the only comedian we’ve seen who can go from embodying her grandmother in one breath and a predatory guy on the street in the next and be equally convincing at both.” She has had three Comedy Central specials. See her on stage at Goodnights Feb. 9-11.
Feb. 9-11: Tim Dillon - See this comedian, writer and actor on stage at Raleigh Improv Feb. 9-11.
Feb. 9-11: Widespread Panic - Attaining true road warrior status, Widespread Panic has broken attendance records across the country, including a staggering 60 consecutive sell-outs at legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre. See them at DPAC Thursday through Saturday. There is also a pre-show block party each day starting at 4 p.m. The party will include live music, food trucks and more fun.
Feb. 9: AfterHours: Science of Wine - Explore the science behind wine as you engage all your senses at this 21+ pre-Valentine's celebration at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science.
Feb. 10: Rouge: A Cirque & Dance Cabaret - Expect the Unexpected at Rouge with inventive choreography by Charlotte choreographer, Caroline Calouche, and the highly skilled cast. Enjoy a range of acts in breakdancing, hand-balancing, aerial silks, contemporary dance, and much more that will move you in so many ways. See the show at Fletcher Opera Theater on Feb. 10.
Feb. 10: Demetri Martin: The Joke Machine Tour - Demetri Martin is a standup comedian, writer, and director. See him on stage at Carolina Theatre of Durham on Feb. 10.
Feb. 10-11: Revolution: The Music of the Beatles – A Symphonic Experience - Join the North Carolina Symphony with guest vocalists performing restored orchestrations from the original sessions at Abbey Road —accompanied by rare and unseen photos of the band projected on the big screen. See the show at Meymandi Concert Hall Feb 10 and 11.
Feb. 10-12: Kids Exchange Consignment Sale - This is the largest consignment sale in the state. It will be held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds Feb. 10-12. There will be more than a mile of clothing racks, 600 tables of kids toys, books, games and more.
Feb. 11: Cocktails & Cuisine Class: Te Amo Tequila - Get inspired to up your cocktail game at home as you gather around the bar at The Willard Rooftop for a Valentine’s Day-inspired Cocktails & Cuisine Class: Te Amo Tequila on Sat., Feb. 11, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $50.
Feb. 11: Silent Disco Total Request Live at Hi-Wire Brewing Durham - Multiple DJs playing all of the hits of the 1990s and 2000s through headphones, and everyone grooving to their own vibe with three channels of music going at once. The party is at Hi-Wire Brewing from 7 to 11 p.m. on Feb. 11.
Feb. 11: Will You Beer Mine? - Oak City Brewing will host this event. Tickets are $25 and include flowers, two drinks and chocolate-covered strawberries.
Feb. 11, 12 and 18: Downtown Raleigh Valentine's Day Treasure Hunt - Walking Team Scavenger Hunt - Guests will meet at the Sir Walter Raleigh statue at the Raleigh Convention Center and then depart with their treasure map on a Valentine's Day themed walking team scavenger hunt where they will use their minds and feet to follow clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes to find and unlock the treasure chest for a grand prize! Adult tickets are $20, children ages 10 to 18 can participate for $12. Children under 10 years old are welcome to participate for free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Feb. 11: Romance in the Air - Head to Transfer Co. Food Hall on Feb. 11 to celebrate your Valentine’s Day with a 16-voice chamber choir, piano, bass, and drums as they sing the classic hits from bands like Journey, Queen, Survivor, REO Speedwagon, Huey Lewis & the News, The Police, Hall & Oates, and Chicago. Tickets are $25.

Feb. 13: Galentine's Day Soiree - The Dock is hosting an epic Galentine’s Day Soirée from 6 to 9 p.m. for an evening full of good times, good drinks, good food, and good friends. The dress code for the soiree is anything cute in pink, red or purple. There will be food stations, a photo booth, live DJ, shred your ex station (bring your ex's photo to be shred), and a caricature artist. Tickets are $30.
Feb. 14: The Book of Mormon - This outrageous musical comedy follows the adventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. See it on stage from Feb. 14 to 19 at DPAC.
Feb. 14: Clayton English - Originally from Atlanta, Clayton English is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. He first came to national attention as the winner of NBC's 2015 ‘Last Comic Standing’ competition and has since headlined in clubs, colleges, and festivals non-stop throughout the country. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv on Feb. 14.
Feb. 14: Valentine's Day with Pat McGann - A husband and father of 3 young children, Pat’s appeal stems from his quick wit & relatable take on family life & marriage. see him on stage at Goodnights on Feb. 14.
Feb. 16: August Burns Red: 20 Year Anniversary Tour - August Burns Red is an American metalcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The band plays at The Ritz on Feb. 16.
Feb. 16: Matt Bellassai - Matt is a comedian, writer, and social media sensation known for his witty and irreverent takes on adulthood and the struggles of everyday life. Matt’s comedy combines the traditional formula of stand-up with his signature crabby prose on various topics affecting the masses. See him on stage at Goodnights on Feb. 16.
Feb. 17: Carolina Hurricanes Fan Fest - Taking over downtown Raleigh, Carolina Hurricanes Fan Fest celebrates the organization’s 25 years in North Carolina the same weekend that Raleigh hosts 2023's NHL Stadium Series game. Come meet Hurricanes alumni, get your picture with the Stanley Cup, play some street hockey, take a ride on the Ferris wheel and enjoy two stages of live music, food trucks, beer garden and entertainment all day long, ending with drone light show and a firework-show finale. The event will run on Fayetteville Street from City Plaza to the State Capitol. Two stages will be set up for 12 musical acts from North Carolina that include Adam Lee Decker, Into the Fog, Paige King Johnson, James Dunn, Touabab Krewe, Jason Adamo, Mega Colossus, Kooley High, Rosali and Superchunk. Event goes from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and admission is free.
Feb. 17: Emma Willmann - Emma Willmann is a Maine native and a Comedy Cellar regular, as well as being one of the top comedians in New York City. See her on stage at Goodnights from Feb. 17 to 19.
Feb. 17: Hootie & The Blowfish with Susto - Diamond-certified and two-time GRAMMY Award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish return to their Carolina roots with a one-night-only headlining show at PNC Arena Friday, Feb. 17.
Feb. 17: Lua Flora with Taylor Winchester, Clint Roberts and The Holler Choir, and Wilfred - The Transfer Co. Ballroom hosts a night full of inspired folk music from artists across North Carolina. Tickets start at $12.
Feb. 17-19: Marlon Wayans - Marlon Wayans is an actor, producer, comedian, writer and film director. His films have grossed more than $736-million in domestic box office and $1-billion in global box office. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv Feb. 17 to 19.
Feb. 18: Cupid's Undie Run - Every February, thousands of undie runners in cities all across the U.S. come together, whether it be in-person or virtually, to support those affected by NF, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and affects 1 in every 3,000 births. Cupid’s Undie Run kicks off with drinking and dancing, then people jog a mile, then have an epic dance party. The event is Feb. 18 starting at noon at Motorco. Tickets are $40.
Feb. 18: Shana Tucker, ChamberSoul™ Cello & Songs - Lyrical storyteller. Soulful cellist. Dynamic singer-songwriter. Fun teaching artist. That’s Shana Tucker! See her on stage at Carolina Theatre of Durham on Feb. 18.
Feb. 18: Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series™: Hurricanes vs. Capitals - The Carolina Hurricanes, in conjunction with the NHL, will host an outdoor game at N.C. State's Carter-Finley Stadium against the Washington Capitals on Feb. 18, 2023. The event will mark the first time the Hurricanes have participated in an outdoor game.
Feb. 18: Truly Hard Seltzer NHL PreGame - This free hockey festival will be open on Saturday from 2 to 7:30 p.m. at PNC Arena East 1000 Parking Lot. The PreGame will offer fans of all ages, family friendly hockey interactive games and attractions, live music, special appearances, and other dynamic activities like taking a picture with the most iconic trophy in sports, the Stanley Cup.

Feb. 18: Daytime Mardi Gras at Durham Central Park - Enjoy this free daytime Mardi Gras celebration in Durham Central Park on Feb 18 from 1:30 to 7 p.m. There will be music from Bulltown Strutters brass band, Cajun music from the Cajammers, on-site parading, Glass Jug beer tent and food trucks. There will be crafting and costuming booths including one for kids to make shoe-box floats. Join a second line parade at 3:15 whether fancied up or not, and let the booths help you bling up for Durham’s usual Fat Tuesday night events.

Feb. 20-28

Feb. 21: Durham Mardi Gras with Bulltown Strutters - Gather with the Bulltown Strutters at the Glass Jug on Foster Street starting at 4 p.m. At 6 p.m., people will gather at CCB Plaza to jam. A walking parade will start at 6:30 p.m.
Feb. 21: Casey Frey - Casey Frey is a dancer and comedian notable for his videos on social media, particularly Vine. See him on stage Feb. 21 at Goodnights.
Feb. 21: An Evening to Shine - Durham Public Schools (DPS) and the Durham Public Schools Foundation (DPSF) will be co-hosting An Evening to Shine, formerly known as An Evening of Entertainment, at DPAC to showcase the district’s performing arts students and successes and raise money for college scholarships.
Feb. 22: Goodnights Presents: Mike Mello Live Album Recording - Mike Mello is a 18 year comedy vet. His laid-back style with a smooth delivery and quick wit keeps crowds on their toes and in stitches. He has been on tour with comedians Russell Peters, Tracey Morgan and Ralphie May. Mike Mello was a finalist on NBC's Stand-up Deversity and can be seen on D.L. Hugley's Speakeasy. He also can be heard on SiriusXM Radio. See this album recording at Goodnights on Feb. 22. Tickets start at $20.
Feb. 22: Brandi Carlile - After two hard-fought decades-in-the-making, Brandi Carlile is in the midst of experiencing the biggest highs of her acclaimed career thus far. See her at DPAC on Feb. 22.
Feb. 23: Eric D'Alessandro - New York native Eric D’Alessandro's big Italian-American family which inspires his raw comedic sketches and uncensored, relatable rhetoric. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv on Feb. 23.
Feb. 23: Rare and Vintage Tasting Event - Eleven years in the making with 11 beers for a one night only tasting at Bull City Solera and Taproom.
Feb. 24: An Evening With Gregory Porter - Gregory Porter’s powerful baritone shows out on recordings like “Concorde,” the opening track of 2020’s Grammy-nominated All Rise — an album All Music called “buoyantly sophisticated.” See him on stage at Memorial Auditorium on Feb. 24.
Feb. 24: Jesus Trejo - Jesus Trejo is one of the fastest rising names in the stand-up comedy scene. Born and raised in Long Beach, Trejo recently had his first hour stand-up special. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv on Feb. 24.
Feb. 24-26: Riverdance - A powerful and stirring reinvention of this beloved favorite, celebrated over the world for its Grammy award‐winning score and the thrilling energy and passion of its Irish and international dance. They have five shows this weekend at DPAC.
Feb. 25: K Michelle - She is best known for appearing as a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta during its first two seasons. See her perform at The Ritz on Feb. 25.
Feb. 28-March 5: Jagged Little Pill - Joy, love, heartache, strength, wisdom, catharsis, LIFE – everything we’ve been waiting to see in a Broadway show – is here in the exhilarating, fearless new musical based on Alanis Morissette’s world-changing music. The show runs Feb. 28 through March 5.
