Five cars were involved in a crash on Interstate 40 east near Durham, causing a traffic jam.

DURHAM, N.C. — Five cars were involved in two crashes on Interstate 40 East in Durham on Thursday morning, causing major traffic delays.
The crashes happened near NC Highway 751, or Exit 274.
Officials said there was an initial crash and then a second crash that followed shortly after. Three people were injured and one person has broken bones, according to officials.
Two out of three left lanes are closed near Exit 274 while officials work to clear the scene. Expect traffic delays in the area until 8 a.m., according to officials.
