RALEIGH, N.C. — A 4-year-old boy died Tuesday after a reported drowning at the Falls Creek Apartments complex off Capital Boulevard in Raleigh.

The boy was reported missing by his mother around 7:45 a.m. and was later found unresponsive in the pool of the apartment complex.

At 8:45 a.m., Sky 5 flew over the scene at 8800 Cattail Creek Place, where crews gathered beside the pool at the clubhouse.

First responders performed CPR on the child, who was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are working to learn how the child accessed the pool.

Due to his age, the child's name will not be shared.

Investigators said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the drowning.

A spokesperson for Falls Creek Apartments & Townhomes made a statement in light of the boy's death:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the child involved in an incident at our apartment community this morning. We are fully cooperating with local authorities and providing assistance in any way we can."
