30-year-old Cary shopping center to get makeover
MacGregor Village, an outdoor shopping center in Cary, is getting a makeover.

The multimillion-dollar renovation project will add green spaces to create an outdoor gathering place in the shopping center located at the west corner of U.S. 1 and U.S. 64 near Apex at 107 Edinburgh South Drive.
Renovations will also add covered seating areas, a new outdoor fountain with seating area, new bike racks and new LED lighting including in the parking lot.
With new shopping centers and developments popping up around Cary, older outdoor malls have to keep up. Built in 1988, MacGregor Village is one of the older shopping centers in Cary.
"Our reinvestment in MacGregor Village demonstrates our commitment to the Cary community and our goal is to create an enjoyable environment for our guests and tenants,” said Kevin Jones, Senior Leasing Representative for Washington Prime Group, the parent company of MacGregor Village. “Our work is part of our long-term focus to reinvent the retail experience for our guests."
MacGregor Village is currently home to more than 30 restaurants and businesses, including Apex Soccer, Big E Bounce, Cheers N Paint, Fred Astaire Dance Studios, MacGregor Draft House, Tony’s Bourbon Street Oyster and Triangle Krav Maga.
According to officials, the current tenants will remain open during construction.
