3-year-old taken to WakeMed after falling into family pool for 10 minutes

The Wake County sheriff's office responded to a water emergency involving a 3-year-old child Monday afternoon.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County sheriff's office responded to what they called a "water emergency" involving a 3-year-old child Monday afternoon.
According to the sheriff's office, Westlee Diener was rescued after a "near drowning" around 5 p.m. and was conscious and breathing when he was transported from the scene.

The incident occurred on Tarheel Club Road in Raleigh.

Wake County EMS responded to the scene, as well. They say Diener was in the water for roughly 10 minutes before help could arrive.
