GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 3-year-old child died in a car crash when a driver hit two vehicles at a stoplight Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 70 near Oak Forest Road in Goldsboro.

Officials responded to a call of a reckless driver at around 11 a.m. Police followed the driver with their blue lights on for less than a minute before he hit a car and a truck stopped at an intersection.

The truck was then pushed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was also stopped at the red light, officials said.

Driver Reina Sorian-Regalada, 41, from Goldsboro, had 3-year-old Ariel Sorian in her truck when the crash occurred. Sorian-Regalada survived the crash and is being treated at UNC Wayne Memorial with serious injuries.

Christopher Kelly Blair, 39, from LaGrange, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Blair was charged with reckless driving for traveling 75 mph in a 55-mph zone prior to the crash. The State Highway Patrol has not filed any charges related to the crash.

Officials said Blair was suffering from a medical condition during the traffic stop and car crash.

Robert Ralph Wagner Jr., 66, from Smithfield, was driving the tractor-trailer. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
