Deputies capture 1 of 3 inmates who escaped from SC prison

Investigators in South Carolina are seeking three inmates who escaped from the Orangeburg County Detention Center Saturday night.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — One of three inmates who escaped from the Orangeburg County Detention Center in South Carolina on Saturday night has been captured. 

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, Tyshon Demontrea Johnson, 27, Curtis Ray Green, 20, and Christopher Shannon Boltin, 27, escaped from the facility after overpowering a correctional officer at about 10 p.m..

Botlin was taken into custody Sunday night by deputies in Lexington County and will be returned to Orangeburg, where he will await a court hearing.

"We certainly appreciate Lexington County for following up on the information," Ravenell said. "They acted immediately and the result is one is in custody."

Authorities said Johnson and Green remain at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Johnson and Green are each charged with murder. Boltin is facing a carjacking and grand larceny charge.
