SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — Three people were hurt on Thursday after a roof collapsed in Southern Pines.

The incident happened at a bank building under construction on Bell Avenue, near U.S. Highway 1.

Southern Pines Fire Chief Mike Cameron said workers were using a crane to put trusses over the second floor of the building for the roof. Gusty winds then caused the trusses to fall over, taking down the three workers on the trusses.

One worker had a broken leg, another had a broken arm and cuts on the head, and the third worker had a possible broken wrist.

Officials said the three workers are expected to be OK.
