Smithfield, N.C. — Three people were ejected from a sport-utility-vehicle when it overturned on the side of Interstate 95 early Monday.
State troopers said Christopher Saldana, 27, of Jacksonville, was driving a Ford Explorer carrying four other people around 2:30 a.m. The Explorer ran off the interstate between milemarkers 96 and 97 shortly and overturned.
Three people were ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.
Craig Boyce, 27, was airlifted to Johnston Memorial Hospital, and doctors planned to fly him to a second hospital.
All four passengers were from New York.
Troopers said speed was a factor in the wreck. They continued to investigate and had not decided if they will file charges.
