Three people have been arrested in connection with an August shooting that left one man seriously injured.

DURHAM, N.C. — Three people have been arrested in connection with an August shooting that left one man seriously injured.

Authorities said a 23-year-old was walking to the store in the 1600 block of South Alston Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 when he was shot following a confrontation with three men.

Jarel Alexander Brown, 21, of Durham, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony conspiracy, going armed to the terror of the public, injury to personal property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held at the Durham County Jail under $1.2 million bond.

Robert Emerson Smith, 23, of Durham was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy. He was being held at the Durham County Jail under $500,000 bond.

Jerrod Deshaun Spencer, 24, of Burlington was charged with felony conspiracy and a parole violation and was later indicted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
