CLAYTON, N.C. — A school bus has been involved in an accident on 603 N. Fayetteville St. in Clayton.

The bus number was 170, according to the a spokeswoman for the Town of Clayton, and the students were going to Cooper Academy.

There were multiple ambulance trucks on site. A person in their driveway reportedly backed into the bus. There was no damage to either vehicle.

According to officials, 29 children were on the bus. Of those students, 17 were checked out as a precaution. One student complained he hit his head and was transported.

A number of children with backpacks were seen standing alongside the bus, before being led away in a single-file line. Officials said 16 of the students were walking to school, which was only half a block away, with the principal.

Officials said 8-10 reporting students reported minor injuries.

The students are being evaluated, and the school district is contacting parents.

This was the second school bus crash Friday. Another bus accident happened in Nash County, which had seven students on board.
