24 Triangle events to check out this week

RALEIGH, N.C. — The weather is warming up, so get outside after work with these fun events.

It's Free Cone Day at Dairy Queen locations across the Triangle, which means that guests will receive a free small vanilla soft-serve cone between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. While you're there, the restaurants will be accepting optional donations for Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center.

Cooking for a Classic is wrapping up with final competitions on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The six course dinners, held at 1705 Prime in Raleigh, introduce ticket holders to amazing food and drinks by local chefs while helping to raise money for a good cause.

Visit Lynwood Brewing Concern or Top of the Hill tonight and ask for the "Charity Pint" to support clean water projects around the world. Both venues will be donating $1 for every pint sold from 4 to 11 p.m. to Wine To Water for global water projects.

The Zombies will perform at the Carolina Theatre of Durham at 8 p.m.

Jose and Sons will host a Videri Chocolate Mole Dinner at 7 p.m. Chef Oscar will be preparing a three course meal for guests with Videri cocoa nib moles in each bite. Tickets are $35 per person with a quarter of all proceeds being donated to the NC Justice Center.

Bull McCabe's Irish Pub in Durham will host a Brain Awareness Trivia Night at 7 p.m. Compete for multiple prizes while learning about the brain during five rounds of normal trivia questions mixed with ones about neuroscience. There will be free appetizers while supplies last.

Crank Arm's weekly Trivia Night begins at 7 p.m.

The indie group Stephin Merritt & The Magnetic Fields will be at the Carolina Theatre of Durham at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $30.

The Jacuzzi Boys electric rock band will play at The Pinhook at 9 p.m.

The weather is warmer, and it's the perfect time to try the Whiskey Wednesday Run Club. Meet at Dram & Draught at 6 p.m.

Stop by the Saint Saviour's Center in downtown Raleigh at 6 p.m. for a Beer Tasting in celebration of World Water Day. The event, hosted by Global H2O, brings together local beers from multiple breweries, live bluegrass music and appetizers while raising awareness about the importance of safe and fresh water. Tickets are $25.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the roof of The Durham Hotel, explore the origins and history of the Old Fashioned. The History of the Cocktail events let you taste a classic cocktail while learning more about its roots and variations.

The Blue Eyed Bettys will perform at The Pour House Music Hall at 9 p.m.

Jazz-inspired group Zoocrü will perform at The Bullpen in Durham until 11 p.m.

The Granary at Fearrington Village will host a Wines of Sicily class at 6 p.m. $40 tickets include a wine and cheese plate along with opportunities to learn about the wine.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is hosting an "adult night," and the theme is Throwback Thursday. There will be a 90s dance party, interactive science stations, games, local entertainment, beer, wine and food. Tickets are $15.

At 7 p.m., multi-platinum international music sensation Celtic Woman returns to DPAC. The Voices of Angels tour showcases the angelic voices of three singers, a new violinist and a group of energetic musicians and dancers.

Black Violin will perform at the Carolina Theatre of Durham at 8 p.m.

Bluegrass artist Sierra Hull will be at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m.

Bottle Revolution on Lake Boone Trail is having a fundraiser/clothing drive today for Note in the Pocket. A dollar of every draft sold between 5 and 8 p.m. will go to the charity, and new and used children's clothing and cash donations will be accepted.

Parizade in Durham will host an elegant, five-course Italian Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Enjoy music from No Worries between 7 and 10 p.m. at Chatham Hill Winery in downtown Cary.

Join the Festival of Laughs tonight at PNC Arena with comedians Mike Epps, Bruce Bruce, Rickey Smiley and Tony Rock.

Wake Forest is starting a new downtown music series called Rockin' the Forest. Shows are $10 for adults and take place at 8 p.m. in the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre. The first performance will be from a local band, The Blacksliders.
