23 Wake magnet schools earn national honor
Twenty-three Wake County schools received Merit Awards from Magnet Schools of America, the organization announced Thursday.
Posted — UpdatedThe annual awards recognize programs demonstrating a strong commitment to academic standards, innovation, diversity, specialized teaching staffs and parent and community involvement.
Eleven Wake County public schools earned the top title, School of Excellence. Twelve Wake County magnet schools earned the title of School of Distinction.
“It is truly an honor for Wake County to have 23 schools earn national recognition from among all of the programs and schools that were reviewed,” Deputy Superintendent Cathy Q. Moore said in a statement. “This is a reflection of the hard work teachers and staff have put into building strong, innovative programs for our students.”
