ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The Crump Group Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of pet treats, announced an $85 million expansion within three years of locating its first production facility in Nash County.

Nash County Economic Development Director Andy Hagy calls it a win for the county.

"I think it speaks volumes about the company. They are doing what we hope they were doing," Hagy said, "expanding with capital investments and jobs. It also speaks volumes about the county as a great place to do business."

Hagy said that so far this year, $745 million in capital investment has come from local expansions and new businesses in Nash County. He is optimistic about what the rest of the year will offer.

"It is always exciting news when a local industry announces an expansion of their facility. It's a compliment to the company's growth and Nash County," Hagy said.

The acquisition of the facility in 2021 involved an initial investment exceeding $40 million to procure the property.

"The Crump Group's significant expansion announcement is exciting news for Nash County and the Research Triangle region," said Robbie Davis, Nash County Board of Commissioners chairman. "Crump's expansion will continue to help diversify the local economy and expand the county's food processing cluster. We congratulate them on this tremendous news," said Davis.

North Carolina sweet potatoes have been a key ingredient in several company products for years. The Nash County facility is helpful for procuring the ingredients.
