CENTRAL BANK IS WARNING MORE RATE HIKES ARE LIKELY NECESSARY TO COOL INFLATION EVEN MORE. JOINING US NOW TO BETTER EXPLAIN WHAT ALL THIS MEANS FOR US, DOCTOR AND YORK. LET'S GO AHEAD AND START WITH TODAY'S INTEREST RATE HIKE LOWER THAN THE PREVIOUS 6 INCREASES. SEEMS LIKE A GOOD SIGN. BUT DO YOU THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE FOR FAMILIES? &gt;&gt; BUT THIS IS THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE INTEREST RATE INCREASES. THERE ARE MORE TO COME. BUT INFLATION RATES ARE TRENDING DOWN. WE HAD 9% INFLATION RATES OVER THE SUMMER. NOW AROUND 6%. SO WE'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK AND WE HOPEFULLY WILL SEE INTEREST RATE INCREASES CONTINUE TO MODERATE AND HOPEFULLY STOP AT SOME POINT. &gt;&gt; WELL, HOW MUCH OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE U.S. ECONOMY WHEN IT COMES TO INFLATION IS DEPENDENT ON WHAT WE SEE IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD. EUROPE, CHINA, CAN WE TAKE ANY SIGNALS FROM WHAT WE SEE OVERSEAS? &gt;&gt; WE CAN IN PARTICULAR FROM CHINA BECAUSE THEY HAD A 0 COVID POLICY FOR SO LONG AND NOW THEY HAVE RELAXED IT. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN DUE TO THAT. ONE BANK COULD BE MORE INFLATIONARY THERE. CONSUMERS ARE GOING TO BE SPENDING MORE THAN THEY HAD BEEN WHEN THEY WERE LOCKED DOWN AND THAT INCREASING GLOBAL DEMAND FOR GOODS AND SERVICES COULD HAVE TO PUSH AN AREA IMPACT. HOWEVER, HOPEFULLY IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN BOTTLENECKS THAT HAVE BEEN COMING FROM CHINA IN ASIA. WILL MODERATE SAYS THAT IS WHERE WE GET A LOT OF OUR GOODS. AND IF THE TRYING TO SUPPLY CHAIN BOTTLENECKS MODERATE THAN THAT WILL HELP OUR GLACIER, RIGHT. HOPEFULLY THAT WILL AWAY ANY OF THAT FROM THE CHINESE CONSUMERS SPENDING MORE MONEY NOW? &gt;&gt; YOU KNOW, THE FED CHAIR SAID TODAY IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO BE CUTTING INTEREST RATES ANY TIME SOON. CERTAINLY IN 2023, HOW MANY MORE INTEREST RATE HIKES, THOUGH? DO YOU THINK WE CAN EXPECT? &gt;&gt; WELL, NOT EVEN THE FED KNOWS ANY MORE INTEREST RATE HIKES. THEY WILL HAVE. BUT THE FACT THAT THEY'VE GONE FROM 75 BASIS POINTS TO 52. NOW, 25 HOPEFULLY THEY ARE FEELING MORE CONFIDENT ABOUT BRINGING DOWN THE INFLATION RATE AND IT ANYTIME THERE'S GOING TO BE A MEETING OF THE FED THIS YEAR. THERE PROBABLY WILL BE AN INTEREST RATE INCREASE, BUT A LOWER INCREASE THAN THEY DID LAST YEAR. &gt;&gt; LET'S TALK ABOUT THE JOB MARKET BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THE FED IS WATCHING THE JOB MARKET VERY, VERY CLOSELY WHEN IT COMES TO TRACKING INFLATION. SO WHAT KIND OF ECONOMIC CONDITIONS DO WE NEED TO SEE TO BE ABLE TO KIND OF EVEN AS OUT AND GET US TO A POINT WHERE INFLATION ISN'T SO BAD AND THEY CAN STOP DOING ALL THESE BIG RATE INCREASES. &gt;&gt; ONE PROBLEM WE HAVE HAD IN OUR ECONOMY IS THAT THE LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE HAS NOT RETURNED TO WHERE IT WAS PRE-COVID. THERE ARE A VARIETY OF REASONS FOR THAT. BUT THAT MEANS THAT OUR LABOR SUPPLY IS LOWER THAN IT HAS BEEN. AND IF WE CAN INCREASE LABOR SUPPLY THAT WILL HAVE A MODERATING THAT DON'T WAGE INCREASES AND MODERATING. BUT BUSINESSES NEED TO BE NEEDING TO RAISE PRICES TO TRY TO FIND WORKERS AND ATTRACT WORKERS. I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT WILL TAKE BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE OUR ECONOMY HAS GONE THROUGH A LOT OF DAMAGE FROM COVID AND MANY PEOPLE MANY REASONS FOR WHY THEY'RE OUT OF THE LABOR MARKET. SO THAT WILL BE ONE SOLUTION TO GET EVERYBODY BACK INTO THE LABOR MARKET. The Federal Reserve extended its fight against high inflation Wednesday by raising its key interest rate a quarter-point, its eighth hike since March 2022.

I'm meteorologist, Kat Campbell in the wr a severe weather center here with a more in depth. Look at your weekend rain chances a lot of questions given that it's trending toward a pretty unsettled weekend. The good news I have for you is it's not a washout. A washout would mean that it would rain all day long. We're not expecting that this is going to be more in waves of rain that we see. The better rain chances are likely to come later in the day. But check in on the radar if you're about to head out into an event, I encourage you. Open up the wr weather app, check in on the dual Doppler 5000 radar before you head out and about. And because there are periods of rain, likely each day, you are going to want to have an indoor backup plan available in case that rain lines up with your outdoor plans. We finally got in some high resolution model data for Saturday. So I want to talk a little bit more about the rain timeline for Saturday, 79 the high Sunday. It's only 70 both days. We could see some storms around as we look hour by hour at our rain chances though, it's about a 30% chance Saturday morning. We should see that round move out pretty quickly though. And then later in the afternoon into the evening, that's when rain chances begin to climb again. Here's a closer look at that high resolution future cast during the day, Friday were dry as we get into Friday. Late afternoon into the evening, we could see a couple of showers and storms may even be between about nine pm and midnight that we have the best chance for rain though on Friday, as we look ahead to Saturday morning, some of that round of rain is still around early on. We should see that kind of move out. But with this warm across the area that could trigger a few showers and storms to develop pretty much all throughout the day because we have that front nearby. We should see a band of some showers move through at some point during the afternoon and evening. So try to make the most of the dry weather while you can. Here's a closer look at your playground planner for Friday. It's dry during the first part of the day. Only a 30% chance of a shower storm at two o'clock as we get toward four or 56 o'clock. That's when I think we have a better chance of an isolated storm. But keep in mind it's be pretty isolated Friday. Night is a better chance of rain and storms. And then Saturday night as well, we could see some lingering rain into Sunday. So if you are headed to the Bembe Cultural Arts Festival on Saturday, just try to get there early. The earlier you get there, the drier, it's likely to be your seven day forecast. Unsettled for the weekend. We do see quite a bit of cloud cover lingering on Monday. It's a bit cooler with highs. Only in the mid seventies. The eighties are back next week and by the middle and end of the week, we should be right back in the mid to upper eighties.
