FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two people were hurt when a fire broke out Sunday night at a home in Fayetteville, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to a house in the 200 block of University Avenue about 9:30 p.m., according to a fire department report. When first responders arrived, they saw flames coming from the residence, Battalion Chief Brian Mims said in the report.

One victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation, and a child with asthma was treated at the scene, authorities said. Their conditions and identity were not immediately available.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
