Raleigh police arrested a teenager on Wednesday in connection to the death of a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week. According to the Raleigh Police Department, Mykia Daniel, an eighth-grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh Apartment. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released at the appropriate time.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — Two men have been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old Sanderson High School graduate who died in August, Raleigh police said.

Elijah Ugochukwu Umelo, 18, and Roland Lacure, 44, were charged with the murder of Desmond Myles Jenkins.

A former Sanderson High School basketball player was fatally shot Friday night in Raleigh.

Lacure was arrested Tuesday, and Umelo was arrested early Wednesday, according to court records.

Jenkins was found with a gunshot wound in the 9400 block of Prince George Lane, off Old Lead Mine Road, around 11:40 p.m. on Aug. 10.

He died shortly after being taken to the hospital, police said.

Jenkins was going to attend Vance-Granville Community College and play basketball there.
