RAEFORD, N.C. — Hoke County sheriff's deputies arrested two men on drug charges after a high-speed chase Thursday.

Deputies said they had attempted to stop a vehicle along Fayetteville Road. They said the driver, Vander Marquis Bruton, 20, of 904 Bugle Call Drive, Raeford, refused to stop and led them on a high-speed chase.

A search of the vehicle turned up 25 grams of cocaine and 17 grams of marijuana, deputies said, along with approximately $1,700 in cash.

Sheriff Hubert A. Peterkin thanked Hoke County deputies and detectives, state troopers and Fayetteville police officers for their assistance in the case.

Bruton faces charges of felony speeding to elude arrest and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer. He was also charged with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine and marijuana and one count of maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.

Deputies also arrested a passenger in the vehicle for resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer.

Donte Maurice Blue, 21, of 26462 N. Turnpike Road, Wagram, also faces the same four felony drug charges as Bruton.

Both men were being held at the Hoke County Jail under separate $30,000 secured bonds Friday morning.
