The first signs of fall are arriving. No, the leaves aren’t exactly changing colors just yet and the temps may still be sweltering as autumn doesn’t officially begin until Sept. 22. But, pumpkin spice everything is starting to appear on menus. Dunkin’ has already debuted pumpkin donuts and coffee and the pumpkin spice latte (so famous, it just goes by PSL) is already back at Starbucks.
So, why not start making some of your favorite pumpkin-spiced recipes right now? With all the pandemic baking everyone has been doing, it’s probably time to take a break from banana breads, right?
Better Homes & Gardens shared a two-ingredient pumpkin dump cake recipe that’s not just easy to make, but also inexpensive. All it requires is a 15-ounce can of pumpkin puree, a box of cake mix and 25 to 30 minutes in the oven. If you’d like, you could top it with your favorite frosting.
Really, any cake mix will do, but if you are craving fall flavors something like Duncan Hines’ Signature Spice cake mix is nice because it comes spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Chocolate-lovers might enjoy a decadent pumpkin twist with a box of Duncan Hines’ Devil’s Food cake mix.
