2 Durham Women Die in Crash

A Mercury sedan driven by Harline M. Nebeth, 35, of Durham, pulled out in front of a dump truck that was northbound on Old Oxford Highway at about 3:15 p.m., authorities said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A driver and one of her passengers died Wednesday after she pulled out in front of a dump truck, according to Highway Patrol.

A Mercury sedan driven by Harline M. Nebeth, 35, of Durham, pulled out in front of a dump truck that was northbound on Old Oxford Highway at about 3:15 p.m., authorities said.

Nebeth was killed, as was the other person in the front seat, Shonitta Hall, 31, of Durham, officials said. A passenger in the back seat of the car, Jesmond Scales, 8, was taken to Duke, where he was in serious condition.

The dump truck driver, John Jones of Durham, was not injured.
