2 charged in crash that killed motorcyclist on NC 55 in Durham

Two people have been charged in a fatal crash Sunday on N.C. Highway 55 in Durham, police said Tuesday.

DURHAM, N.C. — Two people have been charged in a fatal crash Sunday on N.C. Highway 55 in Durham, police said Tuesday.

According to the Durham Police Department, a black Dodge Journey was turning left on Odyssey Drive when it was struck by a Suzuki motorcycle around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

The motorcyclist, 35-year-old Nathan Curtis, died at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge, 46-year-old Sharon Rubischko, was charged with driving while impaired.

A passenger in the Dodge, 50-year-old Barrett Bennett, was cited for aiding and abetting driving while impaired and no insurance.

Both had been taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
