19-year-old former standout student-athlete shot, killed in Robeson County

A 19-year-old recent high school graduate and football player was killed in a shooting in Robeson County overnight.

SAINT PAULS, N.C. — A recent high school graduate and football player was killed in a shooting in Robeson County overnight.

On Thursday morning around 2:40, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 880 block of North Alford Road after hearing a person had been shot. The man was taken to UNC Southeastern Medical Center in a private vehicle.

​Marquiese Coleman of St. Pauls was pronounced dead when he arrived at the medical center.

Public Schools of Robeson County said Coleman was a standout student-athlete at St. Pauls High School. The 19-year-old graduated in 2020.

Deputies did not release any more details about the shooting.
