BENSON, N.C. — A 19-year-old was electrocuted on Tuesday at a new home construction site in Johnston County.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Zacks Mill Road in Benson.

Cristian Salazar of Raleigh was pulling cable from a boom truck to lift wood up onto the roof of the home. Witnesses told officials that the cable from the boom nearly touched a power line as electricity was seen arcing from the power line to the boom cable.

Salazar was electrocuted as a result. Paramedics and law enforcement responded. Salazar was pronounced dead at the scene.

Life-saving measures were used, but Salazar did not survive.

The man's job title is not known.
