18-year-old woman dies after being shot in Durham

An 18-year-old woman died after being shot in Durham on Thursday, according to police.

DURHAM, N.C. — An 18-year-old woman died after being shot in Durham on Thursday, according to police.

Police were called to the 5300 block of Penrith Drive for a report of cardiac arrest around 9:45 p.m.

When they arrived, they found Alexis Michelle Centeno had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment other injuries, where she later died. 

Police said the shooting did not appear to be random.
