OXFORD, N.C. — An 18-year-old Oxford man died Thursday afternoon after the car he was riding in wrecked while traveling northbound on N.C. Highway 96 north of Oxford, officials with the State Highway Patrol said.

The wreck happened around 4 p.m. when a car traveling northbound turned left in front of car traveling southbound at Mountain Creek Road.
