The sunflowers bloomed early, so Hill Ridge's Sunflower Festival is opening this weekend!
The popular family destination with a sprawling outdoor playground, pumpkins in the fall and holiday lights at Christmas remained mostly closed in 2020 because of COVID.
A revamped version of Hill Ridge's popular Festival of Lights has returned.
Like so many small businesses, Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville has been hurting during the pandemic. Except for a sunflower festival in August, the farm and family fun park has remained closed because of COVID-19.
The farm is known for its sprawling outdoor playground during the summer. The pandemic has shut that down, but the owners regrouped to offer the sunflower event, which opened on July 30 with more than 50,000 blooms and over 10 varieties.
In a regular year, Hill Ridge Farms would be busy with kids and families, sliding down its massive tube slide, splashing in the sprayground and checking out all the baby farm animals,
From July 4 to July 7, admission, which is usually $8 per person, will be $4.
The popular outdoor venue with a giant tube slide, jumping pillow, hay rides, kiddie train, farm animals and, in the summer, a sprayground, is at 703 Tarboro Rd. in Youngsville.
The Youngsville attraction is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily, with extended hours on Saturday when it closes at 6:30 p.m.
