A 17-year-old was shot and killed in Spring Lake on Sunday night, according to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office. 



<b>SPRING LAKE, N.C.</b> — A 17-year-old was shot and killed in Spring Lake on Sunday night, according to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to the 100 block of Hillandale Drive shortly after 6 p.m. in response to a shooting call.

When they arrived, they found Emanuel Lee Nelson, 17, dead from a gunshot wound.

Authorities said they were talking to a person of interest, but the investigation was still in the early stages.

"There's no threat. There's no firearm," Deputy Chief Rico Boyce said at the press conference. "A student made the principal aware that there's someone on campus with a firearm."
