A 17-year-old died on Christmas night after losing control of a Chevrolet Camaro, striking a building and tree in the fatal crash. 

<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — Durham police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened at around 12:20 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Lakewood Avenue.

According to investigators, the crash happened when a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, which was going northbound on Lakewood Avenue, failed to negotiate a curve. The car struck a building and a tree before coming to rest in the roadway.

The driver, a 17 year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is believed to be a factor, according to investigators, and the crash is still under investigation.
