FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Police Department said a 17-year-old teenager was killed in a Friday shooting in Fayetteville.

The teen was shot in a parking lot at the 7500 block of Yadkin Road.

Witnesses told WRAL News the fight started up the road at Sonic, then there was a car crash at the intersection of Santa Fe Drive and Yadkin Road.

"I was DoorDashing ... I was at the Sonic. I was ordering my food, I heard a gunshot, I looked up — that's where I could see the black Chrysler and a gray car coming off Bonanza Drive," a witness said. "You could see the gun and you hear another gunshot, and then by the time they got down, you could hear the crash and all of a sudden it sounded like a clip just emptied."

Police did not say whether or not the teen was shot while he was in his car or not. The child's identity will not be released, police said.

No one was in custody in connection to the shooting and authorities did not release any additional information about a suspect or motive.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Detective J. Olson at 910-709-1958 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
