16-year-old charged with sex crimes involving child
A Whitakers 16-year-old was arrested last week and charged with sex crimes involving a 5-year-old.

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — A Whitakers 16-year-old was arrested last week and charged with sex crimes involving a 5-year-old.
On Sept. 28, the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office received a report of a 5-year-old girl who had been sexually assaulted. During the investigation, it was determined that she had been raped and also forced to perform a sexual act with the suspect, Ricky C. Shadding III.
Shadding is charged with first-degree statutory rape of a child under the age of 13 and first-degree sex offense of a child under 13.
He is being held under a $50,000 bond in the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
