FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police have arrested a 16-year-old and charged him with first degree murder in connection to a shooting in Fayetteville Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Randy Michael King, 69, of Fayetteville.

The suspect's identity will not be released. The suspect will be processed in the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center.

Detectives have confirmed that King and the suspect knew each other.

The investigation has revealed a call was received by 911 dispatch from a male subject that said he just shot his relative. When officers got there, they found King dead in an upstairs room. King had been shot multiple times. The caller was sitting outside when officers arrived on scene.

Police say this was not a random act.
