Six new flu death numbers announced Thursday, bringing the total this season to 35.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A whopping 16 new flu deaths were reported in North Carolina, state health officials announced Thursday, bringing the death count this season to 52.

The 16 deaths were reported between Feb. 3 and Feb. 9. February and March is often peak season for the flu in North Carolina.

North Carolina health officials say four people died from the flu last week, raising the state's death toll for the season to 29.
