A 15-year-old Olympic High School student is facing multiple charges in connection to a reported sexual assault at the school earlier this week, police confirmed.

The child who was assaulted reported the crime to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Monday, Sept. 13. The girl told detectives she knew the suspect.

Investigators said the 15-year-old, who has not been identified due to his age, was found and interviewed by detectives on Tuesday, Sept. 14. He was charged with attempted second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and sexual battery.

The assault comes as the district prepares to roll out a newly formed Title IX task force as a result of allegations against Myers Park High School administrators for not reporting several sexual assaults.
