DURHAM, N.C. — Police continue to investigate after a boy was shot early Sunday morning outside a Durham apartment.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers with the Durham Police Department responded to the Magnolia Pointe apartment complex, located at 1100 Briar Rose Lane.

They found a 14-year-old boy behind one of the buildings suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital and was listed Sunday night as in serious but stable condition.

The shooting is under investigation.

On Sunday, neighbors at the Magnolia Pointe Apartment Complex said the teen was caught in the line of gunfire. Many of them said they were on edge as police continue their search for who pulled the trigger.

"It's devastating," said Tyler Wilson. "Durham isn't safe and everybody knows that."

Neighbors said the shots put the lives of neighbors in the apartment complex in danger. Minister Paul Scott found the latest shooting troubling, especially the timing.

"We can't go further into 2020 and deal with the same circumstances we dealt with in 2019," Scott said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Inv. Cleary at (919) 560-4582 or Crime Stoppers at (919) 683-1200.
