We have a busy fall weekend ahead of us. Here’s what’s happening on the family fun front. As always, check WRAL.com’s Out & About calendar for more ideas.

A couple of things to highlight.

After some Florence-related delays, most corn mazes and pumpkin patches will be open starting this weekend. Our Halloween and fall fun database has details.
And Take a Child Outside Week runs through Sunday. Parks and other venues, including JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, have nature programs lined up. Check our roundup for details.

Raleigh

Wide Open Bluegrass, a free street festival that’s part of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s week-long World of Bluegrass in downtown Raleigh, is noon to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The event includes a lot of free performances and more. For families, highlights include a dance tent with clogging, square dancing and more, along with a youth music stage ,which sits on the outdoor plaza of the Raleigh Convention Center. There’s also a family fun and picnic area, along with a zone just for kids, in front of Memorial Auditorium.
The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences will screen "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," at 7 p.m., Friday. Before the screening, starting at 5:30 p.m., there also will be movie-themed science station where you can learn about the science of candy, chocolate and more. Tickets are $5.
Historic Oak View County Park’s annual Storytelling Festival is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, at the park. The event is held in partnership with the Wake County library system and includes performances from professional storytellers.

Chapel Hill

The Children's Cooperative Playschool hosts its consignment sale from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday. It's at 2025 Ephesus Church Rd. Some items are half price starting at 11 a.m.
Playmakers continues its run of Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood this weekend. Shows are on select dates through Sunday. This one is rated for all ages (though do know that strobe lights are used). According to the description: “Comic genius Ken Ludwig brings his rip-roaring romp through Sherwood Forest to PlayMakers, with all the thrills and romance you could ever ask for. We’ll fill the theatre with flying arrows, clanging swords, and perilous feats of daring as you follow Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marian, and Robin himself through this timeless story of a hero of the people who takes on the powers that be.” Tickets start at $12 for kids. Get 15 percent off your order when you purchase at least one $12 children’s ticket.

Cary

North Carolina FC, the professional men’s soccer team, will host the Richmond Kickers at 7 p.m., Saturday, at WakeMed Soccer Park.
The Walk, Run & Roll for Inclusive Play is 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, at Kids Together Playground. Take a 1.4-mile walk or jog, enjoy refreshments, games and a decorating station at the park, both before and after the walk. Special performance by Happy Dan the Magic Man. For kids on the autism spectrum, a special social story has been created for the event.
Celebrate Sukkot, the harvest holiday, at the Town of Cary’s annual Jewish Cultural Festival from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Cary Senior Center. The free event features Jewish music, Sukkah decorating, meals in the sukkah, traditional Jewish and Kosher foods, seminars for adults, crafts, story time and more. Attendees are asked to bring a grocery store gift card to support Jewish Family Services.

Hillsborough

Celebrate all things local at Orange County LocalFest. It’s 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, at Blackwood Farm Park in Hillsborough. Admission is free. The day includes live music, food and activities for kids.

Knightdale

The second annual Mumkin Fest is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, at Knightdale Station Park. The event begins with music and food trucks, Friday, and continues on Saturday with inflatables, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, food trucks and more. Admission is free.

Morrisville

The East Meets West Festival, which celebrates Morrisville, Wake County’s most diverse community, is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, at Park West Village. There will be food, cultural performances and music from around the world. Admission is free.

Wake Forest

The Wake Forest Dance Festival takes place Saturday at Joyner Park. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with a technical rehearsal that’s open to the public. Starting at 1 p.m., there’s a guided walking tour that begins at the top of the hour each hour with four locations presenting short site specific dance works. The festival performance runs 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event, which is free, will feature regional, national and international professional dancers, along with local rising advanced dance performers.
