Raleigh

The Raleigh Christmas Parade starts up around 9:45 a.m., Saturday, in downtown Raleigh. Popular viewing spots are along Hillsborough and Fayetteville streets. Expect marching bands, floats, balloons and more from across the region. If you go, check these tips and then plan on staying in downtown Raleigh for more family fun, including WRAL’s Winter Wonderland.
The 23rd annual American Indian Heritage Celebration begins at 10:45 am., Saturday, at the N.C. Museum of History with welcoming remarks and musical performances. At noon is the grand entry procession on Bicentennial Plaza, along with a roll call of the state’s recognized tribes. From 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., you’ll find programming inside and outside the museum. Admission is free to this very popular event.

Babypalooza Raleigh 2018 is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, at Marbles Kids Museum. For $35, you can attend from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. during the special VIP hours. General admission to the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is free. The expo will feature all kinds of baby products, parent tips, resources and more, including a variety of baby-focused vendors. This event is best for those who are expecting or have very young children.
William Peace University will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast with shows Thursday through Sunday at its downtown Raleigh campus. Tickets are between $5 and $15. A family four-pack is $30.
Morehead Planetarium will host skywatching at Dix Park at 6 p.m., Saturday. It’s free.
Creedmoor Road Baptist Church will host a Clothes and Toy Pantry from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, at the church on Creedmoor Road. The pantry is designed for those in need.

Durham

Carolina Theatre’s Saturday Family Series will feature Caique Vidal at 11 a.m., Saturday. Originally from Salvador da Bahia, according to the description on Carolina Theatre’s website, Caique Vidal is an accomplished performer, percussionist, and songwriter. With a background in music education, dance and theater, he has developed a music program teaching Afro-Brazilian culture through unique and energetic Bahia of All Color performances all over the world. Tickets are $5.
The Durham Art Walk Holiday Market is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m, Sunday. Get a head start on your holiday shopping and enjoy live music and food trucks.
Duke Gardens will host a family concert from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday. Mallarme Chamber Players will perform a free, interactive chamber music concert for kids ages 5 and up.
The Museum of Life and Science will host a Duke Children's Teddy Bear Hospital from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. During the event, kids are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to explore activities designed to highlight the body, physical fitness and healthy habits, according to a press release. The event also will include special appearances by Durham Bulls mascot, Wool E. Bull, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Duke Life Flight ambulance, and players from the Duke women’s lacrosse and tennis teams.

Chapel Hill

Morehead Planetarium will host Storytelling Under the Stars at 4:30 p.m., Sunday. Tickets are $3 plus tax. The annual event is in partnership with a storytelling class from the UNC’s School of Information and Library Science and will feature four live stories. It’s best for ages 7 and up.

Hillsborough

Puppet Show, Inc., will present a retelling of Wendy Silvano’s book, “Turkey Trouble.” A make and take craft will follow. Best for ages 4 and up and their adult. It’s 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Orange County Public Library, 137 W. Margaret Lane. Free.
