RALEIGH, N.C. — The summer is heating up and we have a list of family-friendly events to check out!
July 2: Minion Mania - The Fenton development in Cary will be celebrating the grand opening of its movie theater and the release of the newest "Minions" movie with a party on Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Minions and Gru will also be on hand to meet fans. Activities in the square are free to attend.
July 2 and 4: EnoFest - EnoFest is back with events on July 2 and July 4 at West Point on the Eno City Park. There will be live music, food and drink, art, vendors and performances. Tickets are still available.
July 9-10: BrickUniverse at Raleigh Convention Center - BrickUniverse, which now travels across the country, started in Raleigh eight years ago. The event features live LEGO builds, a Building Zone with thousands of LEGO bricks for attendees to build with, a gallery of life-sized LEGO models and more.
July 9-10: Paw Patrol Live - The Great Pirate Adventure at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - The pups are live on stage during this pirate-themed adventure!
July 11: Little Fentonians with KidoKinetics - Cary's Fenton development's hosts this free preschool playdate for children ages 1 to 5 and their parents. The Kidokinetics program helps teach children about the human body, move and exercise in a non-competitive, safe, and encouraging environment.
July 16-17: Dino & Dragon Stroll at Raleigh Convention Center - The event features more than 100 creatures and other activities including bounce houses and scooters. There is even a special sensory hour for children who are sensitive to lights and loud noises.
July 17: CHEER Live! at Red Hat Amphitheater - CHEER LIVE will feature 14x National Champion coach and best-selling author, Monica Aldama alongside cheer stars such as Gabi Butler and Morgan Simianer.
July 22-23: Peak City Pig Fest - Head to downtown Apex for two days of live music, a beer garden and more than 40 teams facing off in a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned competition.
July 22: Movies by Moonlight: Raya and the Last Dragon - Enjoy a screening of this film at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the WakeMed Foundation to benefit WakeMed Children’s services.
July 28-31: GalaxyCon Raleigh at Raleigh Convention Center - This sci-fi, pop culture and gaming convention will feature celebrity guests, vendors and panels.
July 30 and Aug. 20: Neon Nights Adventure Family Scavenger Hunt - Search in the City presents this competitive, 60 minute, family-friendly scavenger hunt perfect for exploring Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. Tickets are $10 per person plus tax for those 13 years and younger. Tickets are $20 per person plus tax for those 14 years and older.
Through Sept. 4: Life Before Dinosaurs: The Permian Monsters (N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 West Jones St., Raleigh) - Step back in time 290 million years to the age before the dinosaurs. Explore vivid artwork, mounted skeletons, and life-sized models of a giant saber-toothed predator, saw-toothed shark, and many other bizarre creatures that dominated life on land and sea before the most devastating mass extinction the world has ever known.
Aug. 14: "Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert Tour at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh - See a full screening of the movie with a live on-stage band performing all of the hits from the soundtrack. No live characters will be appearing at the event. It will just be the movie screening and the live band.
Aug. 16: Kidz Bop Live at Koka Booth Amphitheatre - You don't have to worry about any offensive lyrics with these kid-friendly versions of popular songs.
