A 13-year-old was arrested for making threats of violence against multiple schools in Wayne County Tuesday.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, investigators linked Instagram posts to the 13-year-old after being made aware of the posts by officials in the school system.

The 13-year-old was arrested and charged on a juvenile petition for communication a threat of mass violence on educational property.

The threats were communicated from an Instagram account through the stories feature.

The threats appeared to be motivated by the start of Black History Month and the posts said the violence had been planned "for months."

The post listed multiple schools and times when the alleged violence would take place.

The posts also said multiple people would be involved with the violence, but Wayne County authorities said there was no evidence to back the claim up.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the threat was not credible and there is no known threat to any school facilities.

"I appreciated the quick work by our School Resource Officer and Investigation Division to find and charge the individual responsible," sad Sheriff Larry Pierce. "The Wayne County Sheriff's Office takes these threats seriously and will continue to charge anyone who threatens the safety of our school facilities."

The Sheriff's Office said additional law enforcement officers would be at Wayne County public schools Wednesday to ease the concerns of parents and students.
