13 hurt, 4 taken to hospital in crashes along I-95 near Four Oaks

There were more than a dozen people hurt in a pair of crashes on Interstate 95 in Johnston County on Monday.

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — There were more than a dozen people hurt in a series of crashes on Interstate 95 in Johnston County on Monday.

Thirteen people were injured and four were taken to the hospital in the wrecks near Four Oaks that involved 11 vehicles and two tractor-trailers. The crashes occurred close to mile marker 85.

Traffic in both directions completely stopped at one point and congestion followed.

Most of the injuries weren't considered serious.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers were still trying to figure out how the crashes occurred hours later. There was heavy rain at the time of the wrecks.

All lanes had reopened by 9 p.m.
