12-year-old shot at Smithfield party
Smithfield police officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Progressive Men's Club, at 1208 Old Goldsboro Road, at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday. Someone outside the building fired several shots while a party was going on inside, police said.

The gunman fled the area before officers arrived, police said.
The 12-year-old, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to WakeMed and was listed in stable condition, police said.
