12-year-old boy shot in Lumberton drive-by shooting

A child was injured by gunfire in Lumberton on Tuesday afternoon during a drive-by shooting, officials.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A child was injured by gunfire in Lumberton on Tuesday afternoon during a drive-by shooting, officials.

Officers found a 12-year-old boy had been shot in the arm on Freedom Drive. The child was sent to a local hospital for treatment and officials did not release any information about the child's condition.

Investigators say the person who shot the boy was driving a four-door, older model Ford with out-of-state tags on it. The roof of the car has two rust spots over the back windshield.

The suspect was driving a silver car and had damage to the front bumper and passenger headlight.
