President's Day is here, which means most kids have the day off of school. And, according to the forecast, it appears it might be kind of rainy.

Wondering what to do? Check our indoor playground list for details about family fun destinations across the region. And keep reading for highlights of 12 destinations where you can spend a few hours on Monday.

Also ... a word on what's closed. Both the Museum of Life and Science in Durham and Kidzu Children's Museum are closed on Monday. Kidzu is usually closed on Mondays. And the Museum of Life and Science is closed on Mondays during the winter.

Raleigh

N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences

The downtown Raleigh museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday. There's no big special exhibit at the museum right now, but you still can enjoy its permanent exhibits and regular programming, which includes Dinosaurs Alive! 3D and Backyard Wilderness 3D in its 3D theater, meet the animals sessions and more.

N.C. Museum of History

The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday. If you go, check out the new displays in the NC Sports Hall of Fame and take in the very popular World War I exhibit.

Marbles Kids Museum

Marbles is open regular hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, for play. If you haven't been in a while, now is the time to check out its expanded TreeTunes exhibit. Its IMAX theater also has a slate of movies on the schedule, including Oceans: Our Blue Planet 3D and Pandas 3D.

Adventure Landing

The Capital Boulevard destination has some President's Day specials - 140 arcade tokens for $25 and three hours of unlimited mini golf, go-karts and laser tag for $24.99.
Moonwalk Mini Golf at Galaxy Fun Park

Galaxy Fun Park

I just featured its black light mini golf. And you can really wear out all the kids with its other attractions, including trampolines, ropes course, go-karts and more. Galaxy Fun Park is in north Raleigh near Wakefield.

Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center

The Raleigh aquatic center with a giant waterslide, sprayground for young kids, vortex and lazy river will be open regular hours on Monday (along with the city's other indoor pools). The city's website has more information about hours. (Just know that Pullen Park Aquatic Center is closed right now for renovations.)

Pullen Park

The carousel will be waiting for riders on Monday, but both the kiddie boats and kiddie train are closed for annual maintenance.
Kids can walk up the guitar fretboard, making sounds along the way, and then slide down.

Cary

Notasium

The indoor music-themed play space is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday. Tickets are $10 for the first child and $7 for siblings.

Chapel Hill

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center

Morehead has shows scheduled at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Durham

Hux Family Farm

The farm will host Toddler Time on the Farm from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday. Tickets are $15 (and there aren't a ton left). The morning includes a storytime, interaction with goats and more.

Notasium

Just like the Cary location, the indoor music-themed play space in Durham is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday. Tickets are $10 for the first child and $7 for siblings.
